Long Island
Located approximately 13 km off North Queensland’s east coast lies Long Island, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt of the 74 Whitsunday Islands. Close to the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, Long Island is a National Park with a total of 20 km of walking tracks, dense bush areas and pristine secluded beaches.
One of the most uninhabited islands in the Whitsundays, Long Island remains untouched aside from the 3 resorts present on the island. Offering the perfect balance of comfort and tranquillity, these accommodation options allow only a small number of guests at a time.
There is much to see and experience on Long Island, but its laidback and relaxed way of life means you can choose to do as much or as little as you like. Relax in a hammock under the shade of a palm tree with a cocktail in hand, soak up the sun by the pool or indulge in a relaxing spa treatment.
If you’re up for a little more adventure you can spend your days water skiing, parasailing, island hopping, cruising, snorkelling, exploring the colourful fish and coral that call the fringing reefs home, playing tennis or exploring the fascinating flora and fauna that dwell within the 20 km of bush walks throughout Long Island.
There’s also the stunning Paradise Bay, located at the southern end of the island, which is inaccessible to day visitors and reserves the opportunity to explore by yacht the surrounding natural beauty of dolphins, turtles, hundreds of species of birds and tropical fish, goannas and wallabies to visitors on extended stays.
